Love Does Not Delight In Evil
"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." - 1 Corinthians 13:6.
This literally means that true love does not delight in wrongdoing, but rather delights in and seeks after truth and right living.
Love will not rejoice or take pleasure in the wrongdoing of others, and will not participate in sin. Love doesn't relish in another person's guilt and suffering. True love won't gloss over injustice or any kind of sinful offence, or seek to find a way to get away with practising wrong. Real love doesn't hide from or conceal the truth. Love doesn't indulge in dishonest living.
As we have looked at before, true love seeks the best for others: that includes their physical, spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing. Love will not condone anything that harms or endangers any of those things, and will not indulge in an act or way of life that will compromise the good of others in these areas.
In truth, the best way to exhibit this kind of love, is to gain a better understanding of God's love for us, and how He views sin, and to seek Him to enable us to see things through His eyes, that we may be better equipped to 'hate that which is evil, and cleave to what is good'. Romans 12:9 says: "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."
